Welsh Castles and other shots from Wales and England May 2019

First stop in Wales:  Tintern Abbey

Then it was off to Raglan Castle!

Lots of people visiting that day as there was a bit of a festival on the grounds.  It was a very nice visit.

Off to Monmouth to pickup Brigid . . . hmmm, seems like the only photo of Monmouth I have is this one . . .   This is the top of the bridge at which we stopped short for a stop off at Brigid's domicile at the time.

Then we were off for our next stop at Tretower Castle and the manor house. . . you get to see some pastoral scenes too as Wales does have some beautiful lush lands.

After Tretower, we drove up to Chester, England for the night . . .

Before heading out for more Castles in north Wales, we decided to check out Chester as it had some historic sites to see.  We just walked around for a quick look-see before hitting the road again.

We found an entrance to a raised walkway which took us through some of the interesting parts of the old town.  That "raised walkway" is really the top of the ancient city walls and it completely circles the old parts of the city.  You can see part of the Roman Amphitheatre below.  Yep, it was a dark, cloudy day so not the best for photos.

Off to Conwy!!

. . . Caernafon!

After lunch we took a break at a beach area . . .

then headed towards Bangor for our night's stay

Menai Bridge!

After a relaxing night in Bangor at the Travelodge, lol , . . .
We found a Starbucks next to the Travelodge, an oasis in the rest stop area of motel, gas station, Burger King and Starbucks coffee/breakfast place.

Then we headed in the direction of Shrewsbury . . . the base for my next few days,  Along the way, we stopped at various places for sightseeing!

Swallow Falls Waterfall

Rug Chapel

Then a lunch stop and a bit of walk around Llangollen . . .

And so we arrived in Shrewsbury, where I stay in the St, Nicholas Boutique Hotel for a couple of nights before moving to a cottage to join some other crochet ladies for the crochet weekend.

More to come from my Shrewsbury time . . . I think it will be a separate page.
