Happy New Year . . . and, HURRAY!! my crutches are gone!

Yep, I weathered the bulk of the recovery from surgery now. Yesterday was my first day without crutches and am I glad. My arms and shoulders were ready to drop off. I am glad that I was working out so much before I had the surgery . . . the strong legs and abs certainly helped, but my poor arms had a hard time of it.

Slowly but surely I am getting things back to normal before work starts again on Monday (laundry, grocery shopping, pickup repaired laptop). Hard to believe that 2 weeks have passed. Missed a lot and didn't get as much done as I wanted . . . but I did get a lot of things done anyway. I played around with creating videos after I got my video footage uploaded from the little DV camera I took to egypt last april . . . of course, that didn't stop me from using my regular camera, hehe, but it would have been better if I had used the DV more. I'll post something in a little while if I can edit the size on one of the onces I want to upload.

AND I am now the proud possessor of a brand new up-to-date passport!! One of the last tasks before my surgery was to get new photos taken (CVS does them now, lol) and mail my application and old passport (using priority mail). I worried that I should have send it express due to the holidays but it arrived in Philadelphia over the weekend before xmas. I kept checking on-line to find the status but it never showed up . . . the message on the website (travel.state.gov) said it is taking 7-10 days before it enters the system and 3-4 weeks for normal processing (I didn't opt for expedited processing since I didn't need to passport for several weeks). I was thinking the holidays would slow things down so I wasnt too worried, but what I didn't expect was to get it back within TWO WEEKS!!!

One thing that hasn't made me happy is the size of the "crater" in my leg ( on the front lower leg). The growth I had removed was deeper than expected and the dr. was trying to get it all so it doesn't come back. I had a skin graft to cover the spot, but that doesn't make up for the amount of tissue removed. It hasn't impaired my movement from what I can tell. I am still healing so I will not be jumping up to dance anytime soon . . . well, maybe 2 weeks from now. But it is healing and I can tell the stitches are disappearing. The doctor says that it will look better once it is healed, but I'll still have a bit of a gap . . .. I guess I should invest in some more tights/leggings!!! Ah, well, as long as I can still get around for walking and exercising and dancing!!

Anyway . . . back to 2009!!
