Cheese Bread/Cheesy rolls

Another recipe I found on the KA website was for a bread made using gruyere cheese. Gruyere-stuffed-crusty-loaves-recipe

I have now made this 3 times.  The first time I bought the wrong cheese so I used a Mexican cheese blend (cheddar, Monterrey Jack, Asadero, a queso quesadilla) along with the pizza cheese blend that I had bought from KA and made 4 loaves as detailed in the recipe.   That worked OK but I felt like 4 large loaves (like giant cinnamon rolls) didn't work for me as a single occupant in my home.  I also didn't feel like I was able to get the dough flattened out enough so the layers weren't as defined as they could have been.

The second time I made this recipe I split the dough into 2 batches before flattening to spread on the cheese mixture.    I used the same cheese combination and added some black pepper, jalapenos, bacon bits using olive oil instead of garlic oil. After the dough was rolled up, I cut each roll into 6 pieces.

These were quite tasty.   I froze some to have later.   On the day I pulled out the last frozen one, I decided to make more.   But this time I didn't have enough of the Mexican style cheese mix.

I decided to use up some odds and ends remaining in different cheese bags.   I had grated parmesan, mozzarella, asiago and threw in some more of the Mexican style cheese.  I had mistakenly added the "pizza dough cheese mix" when the recipe was calling for "pizza spice mix" . . . . so added that along with more black pepper (oops, too much), garlic powder and dried red pepper. I think this is the tastiest yet!! . . . and I still haven't tried gruyere cheese . . . it is rather expensive.  But who needs it!!!
