Rio Arriba Shawl from Polly Plum

This is a pattern I purchased on Ravelry. . . Rio Arriba

I didn't use her suggested colors as I have so much in my stash to use up.  Polly's choice of colors looks great, but I think mine choice of the Caron Big Cake Nightberry worked up nicely.  Big plus, I didn't have a huge amount of ends to sew in at the end.   I used up most of the cake with enough to make fringe all around.  I did have to undo some swatches/samples I had to dig out.   All good though.

This shawl worked up so quickly.   Once you get the hang of the 2 rows on repeat, it just flies.

Granny and other squares, rounds, etc! Back to some crochet . . . again and again!

Wow, look at this!   Not the colors I might choose but the work is fantastic.   These are all squares.  This photo was posted in Polly Plum's page on Facebook by Sue Harju Bruining . . .  must give her credit for her work.

Find Polly's FB page here: pollyplumcrochetpatterns  where I find lots of inspiration.

Find Polly's blog at Every Trick on the Hook : EveryTrickOnTheHook.com

I have bought a few of Polly's patterns and grabbed some of the free ones too.  I have another blog post about the Polly Plum squares I have made . . .  here:  crochet-anyone-2-polly-plum

I have been trying to finish up some older projects before I continue on with newer projects.  I really need to finish the Jacaranda which is really just a giant granny square (OK, maybe not, but it is a square that is being worked in rounds).

Meanwhile I have looked at blogs I am following and found these great posts.

Granny-square-flair-book-revew  (Lila Bjorn Crochet). This book is now on my wish list at Amazon.com. GrannySquareFlair

Geometric-granny-blankets  (The Patchwork Heart)

Jen Tyler of Hooks&Tales has lots of lovely squares .   I am posting one link here but be sure to check out her Karoo MAL (a paid pattern on Ravelry):  Wildflower

Terrazzo ("the guy with a hook" in The Netherlands working on a designer from Iceland's pattern)   -  he designed the Medina Mosaic (another work in progress)  that is in my featured post:  The-reykjavic-terrazzo-tablerunner-pattern

What about a diamond shape?
It's All in a Nutshell/Esther has a new CAL (designer Dedri Uys/Look At What I Made) to check out:  Ubuntu-CAL

Don't I already have enough to do???
I keep finding books for inspiration and some drool worthy  squares.   Some I have found through mentions on Facebook or when used in another pattern I found. . .   like Crochet Borders or the 200 Crochet Blocks . . .  hmm, I seem to be missing a few books.

I used the Crochet Block Bible to practice pattern and graph reading.   I started off with the easy ones but I am an impatient person.   I jumped into other squares.  I should go back to this book to do more.   Some are hanging around in my kitchen.   Others are just part of my samplers.

Of course there are more than squares . . . I have also been collecting mandala/circles and other motifs.

Crochet, Anyone? #2 - Polly Plum

Oh, yes, I discovered Polly Plum in November 2017.

My first square was "Simbelmyne".   I followed her colors as close as I could. What fun!

I liked it so much that I did more solid squares of the matching colors.  I even took my crochet on my trip to Peru.   Handy for a long layover in Lima on my way back to the States but also in my hotel room in Cusco or even when I went to a cafe in Yucay with Lauren while she worked.

Maybe I have a plan but it will be long range.  (Nov/Dec 2017)

Also, I made "George" after I saw someone make a large blanket in the blue color scheme that I tried to follow.

Then there is "Victor", which sort of follows along with the blue/gray color scheme of "George".

I was thinking about doing a series of squares in blues but, I got distracted . . . again!

Shoofly Pie!!!   I considered this a big challenge to my skills and kept putting it off while I did other squares to hone my skills.   So, in January 2018, I decided to dive right in.

I love including the Step-by-step photos, but I missed a few. I should be more meticulous about documenting my work.   Then in February 2018, I got totally distracted by the biggest project I have ever  attempted.   To be continued . . .
