More leather knotting.

I took a class in leather knotting for bracelets.   We had time to make two in class then I went home and made another bracelet with the really large beads that I have in my stash. . . which then had me making another necklace.    I keep adding to my inventory, lol.

Turquoise silk knotted necklace

I recently took a silk knotting class (the fresh water pearl in between the layouts for necklace and bracelet)  to refresh my skills so that I could make a necklace using two short necklaces I bought in Cairo last year.   I really like it even though I sort of messed up the knots at the end.   They don't show up though because they are at the back of the neck.

Even better than a nice necklace is that I have enough beads left over that I am going to make a wrap bracelet.   That's in the works today.

Amethyst and pearl necklace

I bought a bunch of strands of amethyst that are a smooth polished stone.   I finally hauled some over to the bead shop with me in an attempt to figure out what to do with them.   One of the very nice assistants helped me figure out this along with a few other items I have posted recently.   I am now contemplating pearls all the time.

I threw in an extra photo of several strands of pearls for comparison.   I bought some while I was in Hong Kong too since I now have a great interest in working more with pearls.

Smooth emerald stones and silver beads on knotted leather

Comparing the setup of the new necklace using the emerald stones and the silver beads to the prior project of black veined turquoise and pearls on knotted leather.

Knotting leather with turquoise and pearls.

My latest creation.   I took a private lesson in leather knotting after I went to a trunk sale of turquoise and saw a similar necklace.   I have to learn how to do it.  It is simple enough to learn and the instructor was so helpful in working with me to choose the findings.

Colorful khamsa project . . .

This is one of the khamsas I brought back from Morocco.    How lucky I am that my bead stash has lots of blue beads to pair with it.   This will probably end up on a nice long strand of blue beads but I do have some others I might try to pair with it.

My new khamsa necklace I just put together

Taking my favorite new khamsa from Morocco and some black beads from my stash, I put together a nice necklace for me. I might have to re-do it though.   Seems I am one bead short on one side, lol.

Colorful metallics!!!

I found these fun metallic beads and jump rings then I dug out a copper chain necklace.   I think I'll put some of this together.   Soon.  Stay tuned.

Red beads in a set: Bracelet, Necklace and Earrings

A friend of mine really liked the bracelet that I posted earlier and asked me to make her a full set.   I used wire to make the bracelet and necklace.   No stretchy elastic  :-) .    It turned out nicely but I think I need to start using something as a background that will let the colors show up better . . . at least for the smaller beads.   The little beads reflect light a bit differently than the big ones.
