I needed some nice spring color this weekend and happened to be in the grocery store on Saturday and found these huge orchid plants with lots of bloomings (bracts???). I do LOVE orchids . . . and these were orange, which seems so appropriate considering my latest color favs. I just hope that I can get it going . . . these are more sensitive plants and my cats probably will want to play with the long leaves. I'll probably have to move it outside for the summer anyway!
Living in Dallas with my cats and a few other distractions like crochet, jewelry, dye work and baking. I retired from my long time job at HP at the end of May 2015. Still trying to redefine my life in retirement but all those hobbies plus some travel helps.

Yesterday I went to see "The Namesake" about a man and his family basically . . he emigrated from India, married and brought over a wife, had 2 children who grew up American blend . . . always confusion in the blending of cultures. Sort of the way I feel sometimes having an Egyptian husband (but he isn't here and might not ever get here the way things are going . . . so I might not have to put up with cultural clashes with him after immigration). I read the book The Namesake a year or so ago and found it interesting. I think the movie was well done but being a movie they always have to leave a lot out. I laughed and I cried . . . human relations always cause both things to happen.
Today I think I will go see "First Snow" with Guy Pearce. http://movies2.nytimes.com/2007/03/23/movies/23snow.html?ref=movies
I recently saw part of an older movie that he did. This was while I was in Cairo, LOL!!! I saw this movie a few years ago and I barely remembered it, which I thought was funny. It is a difficult movie to follow, but should definitely be checked out . . . "Memento" http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/movie.html?v_id=220920
Afterwards, I think I will go buy some more plants for my garden, because the sun is shining and it says the world needs MORE FLOWERS!!!
