This is dinner for one night during my stay in Cairo . . . Ahmed makes GOOOOOD sausage and peppers . . ALSO, tahina. But note the presence of the pomme frites (fried potatoes) and the catsup (hot spicy) along with I think those are the frankfurters??? OK, the healthy part was the nice tomato, cucumber, onion salad. There was also mounds of bread but I took this pic before the bread was in place. Yummmmmmmmm!!!! Posted by Picasa

Here's a better look at The Citadel without me in the way . . . but there is an ugly trashy building on this side . . . i have other ones that are better but different views. Must have a variety. Yes, Cairo as usual! Posted by Picasa

Not sure why everyone that shows me around insists that they take photos of me with the scenery (bleh, not my best side here) . . . but here I am standing at a vantage point of the minaret for the ibn Tulun mosque (yes, I climbed up I think 4 levels on the staircase that spiralled around the outside of the minaret . . . OMG, LOL, not a very safe one by our standards because it was open with a not very high wall on the side). You can see in the distance The Citadel, which is one of the highest points in Cairo. This is from one of the rooms in the Manyal Palace on one of the islands (Gezirat al-Rawdah) in the Nile, Cairo, Egypt. This has a heavy Turkish influence as maybe you can tell from the tile work. This Palace had a lot of nice things inside of it . . . although a bit dusty as most things are in Cairo. Posted by Picasa
