Three more weeks in Allentown, then I'm off to Old Cairo!!! I noticed that the google ads on the side banner are now displaying Cairo and Egypt travel, along with the Luxor in Las Vegas.

When I arrived in Allentown last Monday, they were still trying to dig out from under 10 inches of snow! The runway had been plowed so it was clear, but there were big piles of snow everywhere. There were no taxis at the airport, so I had to wait around for a ride to the hotel and PPL office. The downtown area looked really funny with all the piles of snow. It snowed a bit more that afternoon, so the freshly plowed street got a bit more covered up but not by alot. The next morning, veeerrrryyy early, I heard a loud racket on the street and when I went out for work, I noticed the biggest piles had been removed! It was really cold and I had to be careful walking across the street, but otherwise, it wasn't too bad. I bought a disposable camera to take some pix of the snow (but I didn't get the really big piles) . . . when I finish all the pix and get it developed, I'll post some of them here!

Countdown to Egypt . . . . Anticipated date of departure is Feb. 21st . . . . so that makes it about 5 weeks away. I've asked for 3 weeks off and wonder if I'll actually be able to manage to fill up all that time! I hope to spend at least a week going to Luxor and Aswan. There is so much there that I could be occupied there for a very long time. It just depends on what the pocketbook will allow! I've been busy contacting people in Cairo and Luxor to get more personal information from people that live there and possibly have some time for going to eat dinner and drink tea!

Now I just have to get through 4 more weeks of travel to Allentown, Pennsylvania. I've heard it is supposed to snow this weekend, but will be sunny on Monday! I wonder what the airport in Cincinnati will look like since the last time I went through in December, I saw huge piles of snow pushed off the runway.

Look how far into the new year we have gotten without even thinking about it!!! I haven't posted for over a week because I've been hanging out around the house awaiting a new work assignmen t and anticipating my upcoming trip to Egypt . . . Luxor, Cairo, Aswan, belly dancing, shopping at the Khan el Khallili, hanging out with Ahmed and meeting some new friends I've made on EgyptHeart and Luxor4U (former denizens of Egypt365 and a few other Egypt related forums. Oh, I've been shopping too! Must have some new clothing of course!!! But, I don't think I need to invest in any new electronic equipment before this trip . . . I got the digital camera last April and after all the accessories (batteries, media cards etc) things got rather expensive. I was thinking about getting a small video camera but will leave that to later since, even though it is a Sony, it requires different batteries etc. I wish they could standardize a bit more so I could swap between the cameras.
